Plaid and Velvet - Checked (Part 1)

This is a photo about what to wear for winter days in www.sidneyscarlett.com by Sidney Scarlett

Being a local tourist for a day

It is an exciting time when you are about to explore deeper to the different parts of Shanghai, which you are never been there before and sometimes it's quite easy to get confused when you are not really paying attention to the road. And that's what happens here, hey but at least we found a pretty good place to take some snaps, yes? :)

You are probably familiar when i mentioned something about Shanghai's weather being too cold and too hot, but it keeps changing drastically in just even a day. In the afternoon the sun was shining so it was kind of warm enough for me just to wear one piece of checked white shirt and this burgundy velvet skirt that i got few years ago from Topshop, and guess what? It's one of my favorite pieces to pair with anything, and besides, i love velvet! Plus, when you are looking to the news right now, velvet is almost everywhere.

To cope with the breeze, wearing black legging and also high overknee leather boots are perfect for me, especially when the boots is flat so you can easily go everywhere without having the risk of getting sore feet. And again, i could not go anywhere without this coat from New Look, since i fell in love with the color and the model once i saw it even though i only saw it online and there was this discount at that time, but hey it was definitely worth it! Oh, and few must have accessories this winter would be a warm scarf, in this case i have one with the stripes, because, why not ? And also it's a free choice to wear your favorite pair of earrings, or bracelet.

And by the way, i will have another post about Plaid and Velvet - Checked (Part 2) just after this post and you'll know why :p

For more details, please scroll down and you'll find what you're looking for :)

How To Layer Backless Velvet Dress and Sweater in White House

December 20, 2017

Elegant Dressing & White House In Shanghai

Hi guys ! It's great to be back and write another post about fashion related post and which place did i visit recently. Actually a lot of thing has been happening in life, being 21 now, learning chinese language, getting part time job, dealing with my other personal things are actually pretty amazing, even though it is super hard to have some "me time" in the weekend just to lay in bed for hours, but i love what i do! So, no time to whine and i am trying to make the best out of them!!!

Recently i went to a really dreamy place located in the heart of Shanghai, called Shanghai Arts and Crafts Museum or people is calling it Shanghai White House for pretty good reasons. Apart from the building is a resemblance of White House, it was actually built in 1905 for highest French organization - Municipal French Council and first UN World Health Organization in Asia Pacific before it become a museum in 2002. Nowadays, just by paying 8 RMB ($1.5 dollar) you can enjoy and feast your eyes with this amazing architectural building!

The day that i went there was quite cold, i would say and somehow i was okay to wear this layered backless sweater with velvet dress on top and managed to go around without coat for quite some time. I really like layering for winter, since this pretty green velvet dress is a backless one with chain details, and with some  sexy cut on the back. Plus, i am not forgetting the super cute slit cut on the left side. Sometimes layering with ordinary sweater could be a little bit boring so why not layer your backless dress with another backless sweater?? Mine is being split on the middle that let the whole part of the back revealed, but don't worry! You can always play with the little details and tuck in the sweater into your dress.

Since it was 4 degrees outside, i am wearing another black stocking underneath the dress before this black vinyl boots that i love very much from last year. I figured you might also like this look from last year article: Pleat That Metallic Green Shirt. But nevertheless, this vinyl boots is very comfortable and warm, which is the perfect boots for being in style and warm enough. Also, i did my hair again in purple, but it is kind of fading already and you can notice some of the difference here. Anyhow, do you like this kind of place to visit in the weekend? I might want to come here again since i did not really explore what did they have inside, but i love this place!

Plaid Autumn

December 5, 2017

Still into Autumn Vibes

I know that it's December and we're in this winter season already. Although i really love winter, there's just still one more memory that i would like to share during fall. And the very trend that i really love in the fall season is this plaid coat. It actually fit more like a blazer since the fabric is quite thin and perfect for this season if you want to avoid being super hot during the season. But in this winter season, we could alter it a little bit by wearing a very cozy , comfortable and warm sweater to be layered with this plaid coat.

The look here that i tried is quite formal and masculine oriented, then i also include some of my favorite pieces for fall, which is this leather beret hat. I assume you guys have already see this beret since i wore it in the last post of Favorite Turtleneck and Statement Trousers article. Almost all of the pieces here are online based shop so it's super convenient for me to just click and buy things!

For the white top, it's actually pretty unique as it has a really statement back and i kind of cover it with the coat, but anyways, it's pretty comfortable, and when you're feeling like showing off some skin, this top is perfect ! What's more suitable to pair a white shirt with? Blue Jeans for sure, which is why i love this look very much. To spice things up a little bit, i add some silver jewelries here in order to be more alluring and still sophisticated with all this masculine vibes. And this is the rest of sleek attire look and i hope you guys like it! Just easily scroll down and tell me what do you guys think :)

By the way, i got quite lots of stuff after this shopping madness of 11.11. In China, it's a pretty huge deal and all things are mostly having a very crazy sales (which will definitely sweep all money from your bank accounts). I will be making a shopping haul soon !

Bye and see you in my next post ,
Love,

 Sid

Dust Rose Autumn

November 17, 2017

This is a photo about Dust Rose Autumn in www.sidneyscarlett.com by Sidney Scarlett

Favorite Season Of The Year

Hey guys! Mid November is here already and the weather in Shanghai is starting to get colder day by day, but there is just always one day which could change from 14 degrees Celcius to 22 degrees Celcius in just a day. And that's when the fun starts to dress up as if autumn just started. I get to explore this beautiful park for autumn season, where all the leaves are starting to fall, and the windy breeze blowing towards your face. These are one of the best feeling in the world.

As you can see i have been using this beret hat for quite a few times already and that's because i just love beret hat! It really matches almost all the outfit that i pulled off and most importantly because the neutral color that i chose, black. It's just so much fun in mixing and matching your beret hat with some autumn and even winter outfit. Beret hats are also perfect to style when you are having a bad hair day, but still feeling a little well dressed compared with ordinary cap.

i've actually been loving this top with tie up strings since the first time i wore it. I feel the strings really brings up the trendy side of this top, where on both sleeves you can adjust how loose or tight the strings should  be. But at some point, i feel you need to tie the strings carefully so it doesn't easily come off. The fabric was also quite thick and perfect for this windy season of the year. Nevertheless, autumn is also the season for overknee high boots, this boots is really helpful and sophisticated especially to be paired with some flare skirt or even pencil skirt.

To complete this look, i am currently falling in love with the color of dust rose. I know it's not a really new color for this year, but you'll still be seeing this hue a lot wherever you are. Plus, the suede fabric of this coat really took my heart away, as it's soft and i am happy with the style of this coat. And it will never be disappointing to have two huge pockets on the side to put things when you don't feel bringing your bag along with you.

As usual, the description will be down here below, and see you on the next post for a sleek look inspired by the popular work attire!

Kisses,

Sidney

Conquering My Fashion Fears

November 4, 2017
This is a photo about how to layer slip slit dress and turtleneck with chic beret by Sidney Scarlett from www.sidneyscarlett.com

Are you afraid of something ???

It's okay to be fear of something. As November is here and the first thing i would like to tell you about here is that over the past years since i started to blog, there is always a time where i doubt myself in what should i say, what should i post, how should i act in front of camera, and most of all is what should i wear. New month is a new beginning and let's start with something new and never been tried before! I always had a thing with dresses, as you probably notice, i love dresses, and mostly are the ones with good details on the back, turtleneck, sleeveless, and cutouts. I never tried on some midi dresses with slit details on both sides before. Plus, i am such a beginner in layering outfits. But this time, i am experimenting my own fashion fears and let's create some fun!

As the weather here in Shanghai is getting colder each day, i am very happy that i still could find one fine day where i could dress up in this very sophisticated stripes dress with slit details, favorite turtleneck shirt, a nude pink flat, and chic beret hat. When i put all of the outfit combination together, i was surprised with the result, i didn't expect it would turn out sophisticated and chic. The dress has simple strap on both sides, and a V neckline on the front. The white stripes really complement the navy blue color of the dress, and what's more is the back details of stripes, which makes an X shape on the back, which will be really cool if it's without layering as well. The slits on both sides are actually quite high, which is the reason this style is kind of new for me, since i usually will wear something underneath to cover it. But this time, i love it that i don't wear something extra, since it looks just perfect and amazing.

Wearing a turtleneck is kind of my favorite top at the moment since it's super comfy and quite warm in this windy weather. Plus, adding some accessories just to give it some great color because the turtleneck has the same base color with the dress. Then a very nice headpiece is also a thing to look very attractive. And the reason i've been using beret or any other hats is that i would like explore the things that i was not a fan of. But now, i am slowly starting to love wearing cap, beret or other hats, and it's also a really great idea for  disguising a bad hair day.

Whenever you see some outfit that you really want to try and rock on it, just buy it and don't be stress about it. Since life is about experimenting new things, learning and improving yourself. Eventually, you will come across this one regret if you are not doing it. It doesn't matter how you look, you don't need to be super skinny to rock on a slit dress that will accentuate your legs, you don't need to have a flat belly to fit into tight dresses. After this time, i really love a simple slit dress and i am currently in love in wearing slit dresses. Some days ago, i came across a very great website called Dia & Co, and what really caught my attention was their very inspiring program called Try-Day-Friday that kind of giving me inspiration to try on layering and rocking the high slit dress. How about you guys? Are you ready to try and conquer your fears? Because remember, you only live once, and you'll never know until you try it!

As usual, the details will be down below and let me know about your try day look!
